We trace our historical roots to the sixteenth-century Protestant Reformation and its seventeenth-century doctrinal statement, the Westminster Confession of Faith. We understand the importance of defending and maintaining the truth of God's Word. The OPC as a separate denomination was established in 1936 as a reaction against the erosion of biblical authority and the increasing liberalism of the mainline church. The OPC is known for its emphasis on sound biblical doctrine. We currently have roughly 30,000 members throughout the U.S. and are active in foreign and home missions, supporting 35-40 mission churches a year. We are members of the North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council.
